A group dedicated to growing food locally using organic methods, in an effort to feed our families, parish, and the local hungry.

On October 16th, 2010 the Gardening Guild began to establish the Community Gardening Plots behind the Spirit Center. Volunteers set the foundation for the garden’s soil by layeringd wood mulch, dried leaves, and aged horse manure atop a layer of wet newspapers and then covered the beds with black plastic to captured the sun’s heat and aid in further decomposition of the organic matter. The Guild has applied for grant money in the hopes of constructing raised beds in the Spring of 2011. The beds will be used by the Parish School, the Guild and made available to parishioners who lack the facilities to garden at home. If you would like to donate materials or time to the effort please contact Nick Lesher at garden@stalbertthegreat.net.
