 Dear Parents,

 When you presented your child for Baptism, you accepted the responsibility of training him/her in the faith.  At that time, those gathered, especially the godparents speaking for all the faithful, spoke their willingness to journey with you as you brought your child up in the faith.  Today, as you journey with your child to First Communion, the second of three Sacraments of Initiation, the community of faith is with you.

 At our parent meeting on February 28, 2012 you will be given We Believe and Celebrate books and Home Lesson Plans.  You and your child will complete the six lessons together at home before April 21, 2012.  The book provides many opportunities for you to share your faith in this time of sacrament preparation.

 Please note the enclosed “Schedule of Events/Time Line and Sacrament Guidelines.”  Review the information, mark all of these very important dates on your family and personal calendars, and contact me with any questions.

 As you share in this blessed time of sacrament preparation, enjoy the time you and your child spend together.  Attend Mass regularly and encourage your child to learn its parts.  Help them practice the basic prayers of our faith.  Soon, with the entire Christian community, we will welcome your child to a lifetime of being nourished at the table of the Lord’s Supper.
