On September, 1949, the doors of St. Albert the Great School opened to welcome 410 children. The faculty consisted of eight Sisters of Charity and three lay teachers. The first Sisters who came to teach were housed on what is now the third floor of the school. The convent, now called The Spirit Center, was built in 1955.
The original school had 17 classrooms. Today’s area includes 30 classrooms plus a library, science lab, office, clinic, conference room, tutoring room, art room, gym, and a spacious cafeteria.
