The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the 8th grade at St. Albert the Great.

Reception of First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation:

A child preparing for these sacraments must have completed a full year of religious instruction immediately preceding the program year. Instruction takes place within the regular preparation period. However, students entering the program after an extended absence or without prior religious instruction may be required to complete additional home study sessions or the children's catechumenate process. Eligibility for sacrament preparation and reception will be determined by the Coordinator of Religious Education and/or the pastor.

Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation," whose unity must be safeguarded.  It must be explained to faithful that the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.  For by the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.  Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.
